The Day of Trouble - by Camilla Ferreira

While meditating on the book of Psalms, I realized that King David, one of the greatest writers of the texts found in this wonderful book of the Bible, was constantly asking God for protection from the evil and danger that surrounded him. How beautiful it is to know that we can also find refuge in our Redeemer, the Stone on which we are safe!

We have been living hard days in 2020. A lot of people are frightened by the idea of being infected with a virus that has been so exalted by the media. Unfortunately, even Christians have been taken by a wave of fear brought by the cruel means of communication. I wonder how David would react to all this if he was living among us today. But I am sure of one thing: he would trust his God!

If you have been facing days of terror because of the health crisis that is affecting the world, remember that there is a God who, according to Psalm 27:5, will keep you safe in the day of trouble.

Psalm 121 English Standard Version (ESV)

My Help Comes from the Lord

A Song of Ascents.

lift up my eyes to the hills.

    From where does my help come?

My help comes from the Lord,
    who made heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved;

    he who keeps you will not slumber.

Behold, he who keeps Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper;

    the Lord is your shade on your right hand.

The sun shall not strike you by day,
    nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all evil;

    he will keep your life.

The Lord will keep
    your going out and your coming in
    from this time forth and forevermore.
